You may borrow it from the kitstore but make sure you let me know what you intend to take. Those of you that can't get to the kitstore before the new year also let me know so that I can organise someone picking the kit up for you. LET ME KNOW SOON. Kit needed for Yorkshire Caving; 1. The usual; wellies, helmet, belt, oversuit 2. SRT kit. This is a must. Make sure they're complete! 3. WARM CLOTHES! It is FREEZING in Yorkshire at this time of the year! Hats, Gloves, Fleeces etc You will also need a sleeping bag, clothes for day use, toiletries, money for pub and a fancy dress costume for new years! Food is not provided. You will need to organise this yourself, but we'd suggest cooking etc in small groups. The pub is next door and serves food so bring extra money if you want to eat out. This year we are planning much the same thing where people turn up about 5 days before New Years Eve get some good caving in then have a massive party on New Years Eve. Of course you're welcome to turn up for as long or a shorter time as you like. I have spoken to Allen from the YSS and he has pencilled us in for new years eve but I need to know more exact numbers, please can you let me know if your likely to join us and if so what dates. It doesn't matter if these change later, I just need a rough idea. I will be there from the 27th De till 2nd Jan. Please let me know ASAP if you think you might join us. As most of you know the Christmas dinner and AGM is being held on the 6th of Dec at the Radhuny, which will be followed by a party at the House of Love. The new committee will be announced then so any of you still wanting to stand for positions on the committee, need to get in contact with Matt Traver asap. We have booked the back end of the restaurant for the club and I'm gathering names and pre-orders from now. The Radhuny have offered us the set menu for £6. This includes poppadums to start, then your choice of main meal and any 2 of rice, naan or side dish. (Alternatively you can order something off the main menu but the set meal is a pretty good deal and makes it easier for us/the Radhuny!) (Future Activities) For those that were interested in the First Aid training that was advertised a couple of weeks ago, as well as the last weekend away for this term please read up and bear with me! It's a long one. It's going to take place between the 7th to 9th December held at Whitewalls (45 minutes from Cardiff); situated in the area are the big caves like Daren and Aggie � filled with lots of classic trips. Saturday 8th December: First Aid training will take place up at the Whitewalls hut. It will start in the morning and go in to the early afternoon, so that means you can all still go caving that day � you know we rarely get under ground until after mid-day! Alternatively if you need to get back to Cardiff after the training that's perfectly fine. Sunday 9th December: Underground first aid training and practice � this is OPTIONAL. You can stay for just Saturday and still receive your First Aid certification/qualification. However, it's highly recommended you come for the underground session as this will be a great chance for some hands on practice and help solidify what you have learnt the day before. It will also be an opportunity to learn about general cave rescue procedure and practice. What you learn underground will also be 100% applicable to any situation you might encounter whilst above ground in the outdoors or even at the dinner table. Now you're probably wondering about the nitty gritty details. The cost for the First Aid training will be £25. At the end of the session you can chose to receive one of TWO certifications: Appointed Person's Certificate; this is the equivalent to an Health and Safety Executive (HSE) certificate � which basically gives you an advantage in a place of employment as the certification indicates that you have a knowledge of �safety in the work place'. Emergency/Sports First Aid certification: this should be quite obvious. However, this is an ideal certification to have if you're outside a lot. It's particularly useful if leading, working or participating in any sort of outdoor activity or general sport. If you are staying for the entire weekend and doing the training it will be an additional £10 � this is super cheap and subsidized by our club. If you are coming away on the weekend but not doing the training the total cost will be £20 � it's better value for your money if you do the training!!! We will be collecting a deposit of £15 for the training course this Thursday at the pub, as well as any other time that's convenient for you.
